Happy Book Birthday to my friend Nicky Wells! Nicky is the author of the brand new Sophie's Run, the second in the Rock Star Romance Series.
I'm thrilled to have her here to today to celebrate a special Lost in Lyrics.
Let's welcome Nicky as she shares a little bit about her brand new book, Sophie's Run, and the lyrics that are perfect for it!
Hey A.L.,
Thank you so much for having me back on your blog with a
music feature to celebrate the launch of my second book, Sophie’s Run. Hooray! J
As you know, the Rock Star Romance Trilogy tells the story
of the turbulent and by no means straightforward romance of Sophie, the girl
next door, and her favorite rock star, the legendary singer, Dan Hunter.
Sophie’s Run sees the two not-quite-lovers continue their friendship in a
perhaps… unexpected way. There’ll be glamor, glitz, intrigue, romance, rock, a
wedding or two, an exploding cake, a fire, a betrayal… You got it! Here’s the
blurb:
Her famous star remains her rock while life takes her on a little
detour…
Who says that the road
towards true love is straight and even?
Sophie is certainly discovering that it is anything but.
So she has finally
found the man of her dreams! Well… she
knows who he is, even though she hasn’t actually quite met him yet. But she misses her opportunity, and then her
life goes crazy. Rock star and
ex-fiancĂ©, Dan, keeps getting in the way of her new romance—even if he is just
trying to be helpful. A fire, an
impromptu mini-trip with Dan, and a dreaded wedding later, Sophie is still
struggling to meet the love of her life.
Then, just as she is getting it together with her perfect man, best
friend Rachel commits an act of unspeakable betrayal.
Sophie has had
enough. Confused and distraught, she
decides that it is time for radical change.
Surprising herself and shocking her friends, she embarks on a secret
journey and eventually gets her life back on track.
Sounds intriguing? Well, I think it is. But here’s the
thing. Dan finds this situation extremely difficult. He’s really suffering. And
this song, written and performed by UK rockers FM, one of my all-time favorite
bands, could almost—almost—be the theme song for Dan in Sophie’s Run. Personally, I love, love, love the song. The band
perform it live to this day and it gives me goosebumps every time without fail.
Take a look at the lyrics:
We
play a game of touch and go
Your door is open but your heart is closed
I heal your hurts and pay the price
You walk away, you don't think twice
Maybe I'm just a fool
Who answer's when you call
Baby, who else will shelter you,
When the rain begins to fall
Someday you'll coming running to me
When you know it's a prison, being free
Someday you'll stop chasing your dreams
Someday you'll come running
Too much of you, I live without
Our bodies speak, but not our mouths
I can see his shadow in your eyes,
But I don't ask where you've been tonight
I always pick up the pieces
Everytime you fall apart
Baby, you know that I keep tripping
On the pieces of my heart
Someday you'll coming running to me
When you know it's a prison, being free
Someday you'll stop chasing your dreams
Someday you'll come running
When the wind blows colder,
No one to care, no one to hold you
Love's not a road of no returning
Just look around
The fire’s still burning
Someday you'll coming running to me
When you know it's a prison, being free
Someday you'll stop chasing your dreams
Someday you'll come running
There. Got
goosebumps yet? Anyway, bear this in mind as you start reading Sophie’s Run… and enjoy! Thanks for
visiting today and thanks to the lovely AL for hosting me. Rock on!
